Please help! Messed up prestashop move big time

Recommended Posts

Hi I wanted to move my prestashop today. Its been in a temporary folder while we worked on the site. Its now finished so I wanted to move it to /public_html. I went into the SEO tab and changed the url of the shop. I also copied the files into the new folder. Nothing happened. I checked the ps_configuration table using phpmyadmin and everything seemed fine but I'm not a php expert. PS_SHOP_DOMAIN now shows www.nameofshop.co.uk. But now disaster has struck and I cant even login to the back office. I can see all the files using Filezilla but the temporary folder address doesnt work any more either.

I've looked at other people's requests for help on this issue but I cant find a solution. I love prestashop but the hassle and stress of moving it is awful. I dont know how to 'hide' my work in progress prestashops so do I have to go through all this hassle every time I build a site in prestashop? By the way I've noticed that the broswers are still redirecting people from my main domain to the temporary folder but there is no url redirect set up so Prestashop is still somehow remembering the original set up. Please please help me as I havent a clue what to do to recover my site :o

I've just been on to the phone to a friend who knows prestashop and she has solved part of the problem for me! Phew! For everyone else who has this panic:

Go to the config table (via ftp) and change the settings.inc.php. There is a define('__PS_BASE_URI__', '/') Mine pointed to the old folder which I removed and my shop has reappeared and I login again!

But now all my products are missing! HELP! My friend could not advise on this bit :(
