Add category description in a module

I'm trying to add categories descriptions in a module that display category links in my homepage. Any ideas?

Is there a reason you can't just use $category->description ?

I downloaded a free module named homecategories that displays pictures of my categories with links in my homepage. Now I want to display also the descriptions of my categories right to the picture. I'm blocked, I tried all the variables without result.

You just need to edit that module and add your needed functionality to it.

 

As the other user of forum said descriptions of category come by default.

If you post where you found the module I'm happy to take a look at it. I think I promised someone to do something similar a while back and forgot.....
