bork
Please forgive me if this has already been answered, I have used the search.I'm running v1.1. I'm selling Tee Shirts. The issue i'm trying to solve is the following:- The sizes available for male and female shirts are slightly different. On female shirts, XX-Large is not available, whilst on male shirts, X Small is not available. - I used the Product Combinations Generator to set up all the different combinations of size, colour and sex and then deleted the invalid attributes.- When I display the item in the front end, all of the size attributes are still displayed for both sexes. - When I add an invalid item to the cart (eg male, size X-Small) it adds an item in a different size. Is there any way of not displaying the invalid attribute combination in the first place? Failing that, if the customer selects an invalid combination and tries to add it to the cart, is it possible to display a message rather than add an incorrect item to the cart? Hope somebody can shed some light on what I'm doing wrong here...
jhnstcks
The option that doesnt exist (male, Xsmall) will still show because other combinations use the xsmall attribute. It shouldn't let customer add a none existant attribute, and it should come up with Availability: The product does not exist in this model. Please choose another. The only work around I can think of for you is to create the attributes that you don't want, but put the quantity to zero. Please choose another. Can anyone think why this message is not being displayed for a non-existent combination? The only work around I can think of for you is to create the attributes that you don't want, but put the quantity to zero. The backend won't let me do that - I set the quantity to zero, save the combination but it's set back to 1 again. jhnstcks
In the admin>preferences>products section there is an option to allow ordering on out of stock items, make sure this is set to no.As far as setting the quantity to zero are you changing it in the information tab or combinations tab? bork
The attribute is checked to "no".I'm setting the quantity to zero on the combinations tab - actually, one item has now accepted a zero value (caching?) but I can still add the invalid item to the cart. This is probably because i've got the "Allow ordering out-of-stock product" set to "on" in preferences. I've done that because I will never actually carry any stock, but get items printed up as and when they're ordered. Will try it with that option set to "off"....and it doesnt' make any difference, can still order the zero quantity item! I can't set the quantity value in the information tab - looks like this is calculated automatically from the values in the combinations tab. There must be a way of setting this up correctly, i'm just doing something wrong...
