XGhozt
For some reason, tax is being applied to the reduction amount added to a product. For instance, if the tax is 8.750% and the product price is $28.00. If I add a reduction of $4.00, then the new price displayed on the front end should be $24.00. Instead, we get $24.32. The even more troubling thing is that 8.75% of 4 is 0.35! Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm at a total loss here as to the cause of this. shokinro
As I know, this is the way the tax is calculated in PrestaShop. It means Tax is not discountable.
XGhozt
But, why is tax added to the reduction amount instead of the new price after the reduction is calculated? We're actually paying 32 cents more than needed because tax is then again taken out when checking out. The tax should be added to the cost based on the new price, but it's added to the reduction AND the the new price. For example, if the price is $1.00, and we add a reduction for 50 cents, then we should only pay tax on the 50 cents. Otherwise, we're bringing down the price and still paying the tax for the full price! The price then becomes "$0.54", which is then taxed "$0.05", when you checkout. Am I missing something? mohsart
As far as I can see, this is not how my shop behaves. I have a test produkt that costs SEK 600 (25% tax incl). I added a reduction of SEK 100 and new price is SEK 400+tax (=SEK 500). /Mats
XGhozt
As far as I can see, this is not how my shop behaves. What version of prestashop are you using? Is it possible this is a bug and/or misconfiguration?
mohsart
Look at the footer 1.4.3 As far as I remember, it was OK with 1.2.4 too. /Mats
shokinro
@mohsart Have you tried to use a discount coupon instead of product level discount? I remembered that when it is a discounted coupon, the result is difficult, maybe my remembered wrong. Sorry I don't have time to verify this now. mohsart
Just tried it and it works the same. But, a percentage based discount seems to behave different. /Mats
XGhozt
I think I can confirm that this is a bug. If I re-add the .50 cents discount to $1.00 as a 50% discount, then the price is shown correctly as $.50 cents in the cart.
plauengco
Does anyone know how to report this bug? Has it been reported? I am also encountering the same issue. Thanks
