Guest checkout nonsense

Recommended Posts

I never use guest checkout, not familiar with guest checkout.

I just tried it now. Your are right, user is not able to edit their address.

The only way you can change the address is use browser "Back button" to go back previous page.

I agree it is inconveniences, I checked that address data is saved in database, so there is no reason not allow to edit. maybe you can submit a new improvement request.

I've just checked and it looks like there are already two or three tickets describing this bug :)

And the Presta Team replay

"Hi,The guest checkout is more optimized on One page checkout. For standard process, we are going to improve the behaviour.Best regards, By aFolletete Folletete on 2011-01-31 10:42:05"

I think this bug is just a tip of the iceberg.

I'm not sure that's the way to go.

In my opinion and apparently not only my the whole checkout process should be rebuild. Check out this post

Thanks for sharing the information.

I am using my own module Express Checkout module, it is much more easier than the Guest Checkout or One Page checkout. User does not need to input any address information, just select carrier and country and get paid at Paypal in a few clicks to finish the order. The module will get all address related information from Paypal automatically, it is correct, no worries of wrong address and wrong email address.

Sounds nice but it's not usable in my country. In Poland PayPal has almost no market share, no one uses it.

Did it myself but I cut some corners. Updating is going to be a bitch :|

Congratulation!

I am not sure how you made the changes.

If you use the override features to avoid the code file changes, it will be easier for you to upgrade in the features.

You can create new classes under following folder to override existing core class or controller.

(Maybe you already know this, so just ignore my message if it is so)

/override/classes

/override/controllers

Actually I had no idea about that.

Thank you so much!

For my new shop I already did a lot of controler/class customization. All of it the dirty way.

That information is very, very helpful.

Hi everybody,

I got the same problem, i.e. today a customer call us to ask how can he change the address and another information.. He wasn't finished the order because he can't change the address (thank god he calls us!)...

In our case the payment can be done by paypal, bank transfer, cash on delivery or another credit card.

It's an important thing to do, because a lot of people (every day more) use guest checkout and I think that this bug isn't a good thing, can lose orders and money!!!

szym, where can I open a ticket and explain the problem to prestashop team?

Thank You in advance!

I don't think it's necessary . As I wrote before there are 3 tickets on this bug already so the problem is known. But if it's so important there's a "BUG TRACKER" link in the top menu bar of this forum. Then you have to sign up for an account. Once you're logged to bug tracker you can see all submitted bugs and you can submit your own.

Cheers

I know this is an old topic rehashed, but for anyone looking (like I am) this issue is NOT fixed in 1.5.2 when you are doing 5 Page Standard checkout. Your only option is to do 1 page checkout even though it will confuse the average non-techy customer. However, in 1 page checkout you can change the address.

Hello pippo3000, this issue should have been fixed in the recent versions. I did test on 1.5.2 and I was able to change the fields after saving them. I then resaved.

We are using PrestaShop™ 1.5.6.1 and this is still an issue.  When we try to edit an address for a guest we get the message "Email address is not registered"... FRUSTRATING
