CrystalPhoenix18
Does anyone know if there's a way to control which products show up in what order in the New Products module? There are certain items that I would like to highlight by having them show up first when a customer loads the page. Also, is anyone aware of a module that would show the "new" products in a particular category on the category page? EG, customer loads "Books" category, and the new books show up at the top of the page, but not new products in other categories.... Thanks! jhnstcks
The new products block displays products in reverse order of them being added, as far as i am aware there is no way of changing this. I don't recall seeing any modules that can hook into a category page and display new products for that category.

Since I'm just starting with PS but have had a shop for 3 years, there are a lot of products that may be "new" to PS (as I add them), but aren't really new to my shop. I'd rather that PS highlight truly "new" products.
mohsart
A bit cumbersome, but what you could do is change the time for when a product is considered new. Ie, set the time to 7 days, add all "old" products, wait a week, add all "new" products and each week after that untill all is fine extend the time for when products are considered new. /Mats PS New products per category is a good idea. I have this for bestsellers (the bestsellers block shows products only in the active category) and may be easier to do the same hack with the New Products block than to add a category
jhnstcks
If you have access to your sql database you could alter the date added field to make certain products appear newer. That field is in the ps_products table.

PS, I'm really interested in the new products by category - could you keep me updated? I'm very new to all this and am only doing it for my bricks & mortar shop, so don't have time to learn all the scripting
