Product availability for attributes

I was looking for some functionality and wanted some input.

 

I have the "available quantities" displayed on the cart and they are not displaying, but that is a different issue that I found in the bug tracker.

 

The function I am looking for is that i would like to hide the product quantity availability on the actual page and instead if a customer were to try to add a quantity of product that is more than what is in stock to display the available quantity for that product in the pop up warning.

 

So instead of hte pop up just saying "no availability" it would say something like "You are trying to add more products to cart than currently available. The product availability is listed below: product name - product attribute - quantity available"
