Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am trying to add another parent category called 'Products' on my website but for some reason I can only have 'Home' as my parent category with subcategories in side which i dont want. I'd prefer to have a second parent category as 'Products' and subcategories in side leaving 'Home' just as my home page.

Could someone help me please. I am already behind schdule please help.

Thank you

The "Home" the root category of the whole catalog.

There should only one root category.

if you just want to change the name, you can go to database change name of "Home" category to "Products"

(I don't think there is a way to change "Home" category at back office)

Table:

If your home only contains "Products", I think there is meaning to have it, it just adding more level of category. I think you can still have "Home" as menu at your menu bar which literally means to your store home page. Sorry if I didn't answer your questions correctly.

It's ok..but you have confused me now.

All I want to know is how to add a products page on my website after the home page where I can list products under it in different categories. As it currently stands everything goes under my the category 'Home'

I am also confused, because your post title is "How to add another parent category", so I took it you want add another category at your catalog.

Did you mean you just want to add another menu item "Products" at you menu bar, something like this

Home | Products | ....

if it is so, you only need to add a new link (menu item) link to category "Home" with link

YourStoreURL/category.php?id_category=1

Yes this is what I want to do. Sorry for the confusion.

Currently my home button on the menu bar has a drop down where products is listed. I want to this products out from there and put it onto the menu bar with its own drop down menu.

That is all.

I am not sure what kind menu bar you are using. Is it a module of custom theme?

Anyway, you should be able to configure the menu bat to adding the link with name "Products" which links to

YourStoreURL/category.php?id_category=1

If you are using SEO friendly, you can just the SEO friendly URL one instead of above.
