Don23
Hi all, I have been asking to work on the following site, which in it's self isn't a problem. However i have noticed that the response times for the site are very poor, is there something i can change in the modules to improve performance? URL: www.plylinenortheast.co.uk/shop/ Also it's not just the first load up of the site it's on every page that suffers. I'm also wondering could this be server related or do other sites using prestashop have the same issues?
MichaelMcG
I'd install Firebug and see what slows things down from it.
shokinro
Have you tried to set smarty cache? If not you can have a try. back office preferences performances smarty force compile : no cache:yes there is also another option to turn on data cache at the bottom of the page. but please note: during development stage, it is better not use the caches above setting is fir 1.4x

Don23
Hi Guys, A little update which brings further questions, by the looks of things the client is running a older version of prestashop as there isn't the option to turn caching on and off, so how do i find the version that he is running and also if i upgrade for him will it be compataible to just upgrade to the latest version or do i need to take it step by step with the upgrades. Thanks
Paul C
The upgrade process takes the site from it's current to the version you're installing, so no need to go through each version. The current version should be displayed at the bottom of the admin pages, and will be in the "settings.inc.php" file in the config directory <-- this file must be present for the upgrade to work successfully (everything else could be backed up and deleted, then put back later - e.g. product images, themes etc.) Be aware though that there are significant changes, so be prepared for potentially a lot of work, depending on how heavily customised the site is. Paul Thanks for the fast reply, i'm not 100% sure on how much is bespoke i think very little, well i' hoping anyway. Cheers for the info.

tomerg3
No problem, it's in the forum rules, but not too many people bother reading them. It's really meant to help you get answers, so people don't have to go into the post to find out the question.... Please edit the original post and change the topic. Thanks.
