What is the difference between attributes and features?

So, please can someone help me understand the difference between attributes and features?

Features just adds some more description to the product. Attributes allows you to specify different variants of the product. You can specify quantity, price and image for each variant.

How can you add an image to a new attribute value or a new feature value? I don't see it anywhere for either one.

attributes - this is an option for your product, you can define price which depends on attributes selected by users

features - this is a some kind of "detailed" description, where you can define values like height, width, weight etc.

You can create images for each product combination generated using the various attributes, rather than have images for the attributes themselves. If you have an attribute of e.g. size (small, medium, large, etc.), it might be a challenge to create an image just for 'size'. Likewise with the features.
