mytheory.
Hi,So recently I've noticed a issue when trying to browse our site...We have this particular category which contains nearly 2000 products. When we click on any products even directly from the featured products block on the homepage, it takes a lot longer to load the actual product page and sometimes it even times out (we have our time out settings at 60 seconds).I thought my shop was slow for whatever reason, so while trying to find a fix I noticed that other categories with at most a few hundred products load pleasantly fast, and the homepage loads super fast.I could understand the product list page taking some time to load, but why would the actual product pages take as long to load?Has anybody noticed this on the 1.4.x setup for products and categories with lots of products?? I'm guessing it might have something to do with queries, but not sure.Any input is much appreciated!!
wolfstores.com
Hi,This could be a problem which your hosting provider could sort out. What type of hosting are you on? Also maybe have a look at the number of products displayed per category page.Best regards,Tim
mytheory.
Hi,Thanks for your prompt response! We are on a VPS server... is there a particular setting that I might have over looked? We've already optimized our server, and we've combed through all the configuration files; however, we have not found anything out of the ordinary. We have 40 products showing on the product list pages... but this isn't the problem as other categories with less products still load fast. And only the product pages load very slow when their default category contains a lot of products.Anybody notice this for categories with over 1-2000 products? Want to see if this has something to do with PS code or if it is a configuration thing. Thanks!

My product pages loads pretty slow and especially those whose default categories contains alot of products. My whole shop loads slow now, but especially the product pages. I have pretty bad score at yslow. Got F on the product pages and E on th rest so there might be something to do there. Otherwise it is pretty optimized, I use the CCC. It was pretty fast at prestashop 4.017 and now I am on 4.3 and my shop is getting incredible slow and sucks up all memory. I am getting more memory for my VPS but I wonder if it will solve it. I am on prestashop 4.3 and it is not the shop in my link.
mytheory.
Hi, Yea this is weird... it definitely has something to do with categories with lots of products (over 1000). We've been making small tweaks here and there but to no really difference. Our site is optimized too... not sure about yslow, but google's pagespeed shows a rating of 82 (could probably be as high as 89 or 90 with some image optimization we have planned). We increased our VPS's memory and that didn't make much of a difference (maybe need to optimize our configuration settings?). Our memory is way below our threshold so I'm sure it's not the memory or our apache processes settings. But it could be something else... maybe something to do with mysql?? I'm not great with mysql queries or optimization so any help from a pro would be appreciated. I will also try to take a look on my free time. Keep us updated if you find something that works!
