How to hide element if language is not the default for the shop

Hi, i use some modules with hardcoded images in it and i would like to hide some of the images if the language is english instead of portuguese(the shop default).

Any of you have an idea on how i could achieve it?

Maybe using a smarty if conditional statement would do it.

I already searched the forum and google for more than 4hrs without finding an answer.

Any help will be appreciated.
