Import database from 1.3 Prestashop to 1.4

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have installed the new Prestashop on my server. It works well. Now, I want to import the database of my old Prestashop 1.3 into the new one (1.4.3). Everytime I try to import the dumb, it fails because fields or tables are missing.

Is there a guide, how I can migrate the data of my old database to the new one?

Best Regards and many thanks
Tutello

Hi,You have to do a upgrade and not trying to import the database.Regards

Great answer if thats what you do. But is there a way to import an old database into 1.4.3? I have exactly the same problem. I followed the instructions in Prestashop, now I have no database and cannot access anything.

Please help with this.

I get this error

#1005 - Can't create table 'admin_shop.ps_alerts' (errno: 150) (<a href="server_engines.php?engine=InnoDB&page=Status&token=2a70df29e75b6a41a9aef0e5dfb0c046">Details...</a>)

Yes I want to do that as well.

I have a good working v1.3 and do not want the hassle of getting a none working v1.4

Then trying to have to fault find etc etc.

I would prefer to install a clean v1.4 and import data.

Any ideas.

Could I install a new copy of v1.3 with a different database name and prestashop path. Then via phpmyadmin copy over the old database into the newly named database. Then do an upgrade to v1.4

why assume you will encounter an issue performing an upgrade? I've upgraded many stores from 1.3 to 1.4 with no issues. I think you are asking for trouble trying to circumvent the upgrade process.

And no, I do not believe what you are trying to do would work properly.

Hi

This is a problem which occured to me also.It is because the database tables are innodb. If you check the database backup file you will notice that each of these tables where the error occurs has a 'foreign key' entry. It means it requires a key from another table.Myisam does not check for this i believe.

You can convert your tables to myisam and import the database.Later you can change them back to innodb .

But frankly, unless you have deleted your existing databases, you should do an upgrade and use your existing database. There is nothing 'dirty' or 'unclean' about a clean install with an existing database .That is the correct method.

Of course you can try changing the settings.inc.php file to use any database you prefer for your shop.So if your import is not working correct, you can point it to the existing one on the server.

Hi,

it's totally impossible to import old database in a new version of prestashop because you have many change on tables. You can check all changes in install/sql/upgrade.

After you have a procedure to upgrade your shop.

But if you want to do it simpler with a backup of your database an d your files you can use our module : http://www.prestatoolbox.com/administrative-tools/70-automatic-update-of-prestashop.html

Hi Tutello,

It's possible to resolve your problem using Cart2Cart (http://www.shopping-.../147-prestashop) service for migrating your data from old version to new one.

Nice plug for your software but he can resolve his problem by simply carrying out an upgrade on his V1.3 site, and without cost!

Given his post was back in July he has more than likely resolved his problem.

Like I said.... Nice plug!
