So... my website just blew up after updating to 1.4 (help requested)

I have no idea what is going on at this moment in time, trying to fix it but I upgraded from 1.2.5 to 1.4 (i know, big jump but it all happened to go smoothly with the installer).

Anyways, if you take a look the website is here:

The admin page won't even load anymore, i get a connection error to it even though I have checked and folder along with all the files exist.

There is also a weird "�" on all the links on the page after the domain name. eg: www.torontoairsoft.com�/prestashop/ which is causing all the links to be dead.

� = % EF % BF % BD (I think chrome is altering it to a ? symbol)



Error obtained when accessing the new admin section:

HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfil the request.

Permissions are set to 755, 644

Error Log shows: [Tue Jul 05 16:24:17 2011] [error] [client 174.113.249.182] File does not exist: /home/airsoft/public_html/prestashop/\xef\xbf\xbd, referer: http://torontoairsoft.com/prestashop/

Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to avoid having to restore to my backups. Thanks!
