Lindsayanng
I was reading through the wiki on how to set up taxes for residents of specific states. For this case I need to apply 6% sales tax to CT residents and 5.5% tax to North Carolina Residents. I followed the first steps to a tee but then I get to where it says "edit the state which you would like to apply a specific tax and in the tax behavior field choose product tax or state tax" That is not an option for me. here is the exact instruction: In Back Office >> Shipping >> States, you create the Canadian provinces and you assign them to the country “Canada”. For each, in the Tax behavior field, you indicate Product tax — except Quebec, for which you indicate Both product & state tax.here is my page:
Lindsayanng
I want to give a little more information as to what I have currently tried and why i was SOOO confused. I followed the instructions to a tee and found a few threads that mention that those might be incorrect. So this is what I have and it seems to work..FINALLY :GO to PAYMENTS >>> TAXES and enable and set "display tax in cart" to true and "based on delivery addressremain at PAYMENTS >>> TAXES and "add new" name it Sales-Taxes US-CT 6% and set a rate to 6.00 and click "enable" create another and name it Sales-Taxes US-NC 7% and set a rate to 7.00 and click "enable" go to PAYMENTS >>> TAXES >>> RULES and "Add New" name it "Warehouse Locations CT/NC" browse to "NORTH AMERICA" and scroll to Connecticut and choose "Apple State Tax Only" and then "Sales-Taxes US-CT 6%" from the drop down and then do the same for North Carolina with the "Sales-Taxes US-NC 7%" and click SAVE **all other locations are set to "No Tax" in the column called "Tax to Apply" Now I go over to the catalog and click on a product and choose the new rule from the drop down called "warehouse locations CT/NC" and set the pre-tax price of $3.99 which SHOULD automatically display the retail price with tax of $4.22 for CT and $4.27 for NC folks. THAT IS JUST ONE OF THE ISSUES THAT TRICKS YOU INTO THINKING IT IS NOT WORKING. Then I went over to the cart and added items to my cart and in the cart box in the sidebar it lists the products and total and then says "PRICES ARE INCLUDED" which is NOT true because if you actually go to the cart then you see that prices are NOT included. That little line of text needs to be put into a statement where "if display tax in cart is chose do not display text" PLEASE someoen copy this and paste it into the instructions where the old ones are so it stops the confusion!!! centreville_trailer
I have a similar issue. Maryland law says that we must charge MD state tax to any customers that are MD residents, but we are not responsible for collecting taxes from anyone in any other state. How do I set this up in PrestaShop? Also, the catalog contains almost 2,000 products, so I hope that there is a way around applying this tax rule to each individual product. I am rather new to the software, so if someone has the time/patience to help with step by step instructions, that would be awesome! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
