question about installation

Recommended Posts

My email system ( enquiry form, order_confirm email, new register email ) doesnt work after installed. I thought this might be my installation problem, so i read the instruction again, there is a paragraph I am not so sure:

While you have your FTP connected to your Web hosting server, make sure the following PrestaShop folders have ‘write’ permissions (also known as “CHMOD 777” – explanation of file permissions here) but do not apply these permissions recursively (to their subfolders): /config, /upload, /download, /tools/smarty/compile. Then make sure the following folders have ‘write’ permissions and apply these permissions recursively (to their subfolders): /img, /mails, /modules, /themes/prestashop/lang, /translations

I thought I make 'config', 'upload', 'download', 'compile' folders to 777, then make 'img', 'mails', 'modules', 'lang', 'translations' folders to 777 as well, in the end, I make all the folders inside of 'img', 'mails', 'modules', 'lang', 'translations' to 777, is it right?

I am keeping install/reinstall the prestashop for 4 times already! wish someone could help me to make the damn email work. thanks

make sure that formmail.cgi is installed in your cgi-bin on your server, this resolved the issues for me

I have downloaded formmail.cgi and placed it under cgi-bin folder, what else should i do? should write something like
"<form method="post" action="http://www.yourcompany.co.uk/cgibin/FormMail.cgi">

on the site?

hey, when i enter cgi-sys/formmail.cgi, it shows me this:

FormMail-Clone Version: 2.4
This is FormMail-clone, a clone of FormMail.cgi. It is a clean room version for legal purposes (a less restrictive liscense), but should behave the exact same way as Matt Wright's Original, but contain none of his code.

does this mean anything?
