Shop not showing

Hello, I have installed prestashop 1.4.3.0 on an add-on domain. The installation was successful and I deleted the 'install' folder and readme files as advised.

My problem is that while I can access and customise the back office, I cannot view my shop although it is enabled. The links to view my shop from the back office redirect to my main domain and subsequently I get a 404. The same thing happens when I try the URL directly.

I'm assuming that if my back office URL is for example:

http://www.mydomain.com/shop/myadmin/index.php

the my shop domain should be:

http://www.mydomain.com/shop/index.php

I haven't tried adding to my ".htaccess" file as yet. Previously I have had trouble with add-on domains redirecting to the main domain, but only if the URL lacks the index file.

Any ideas?
