Upgrade 1.4.2.5 to 1.4.3 add item to cart error

Followed the upgrade procedure and backed up everything and the upgrade went smoothly without error. I am having a technical error

TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to add the product

In some internet browsers I even cannot add the products to my cart!!!!!!

I had this problem also on 1.4.25

This problem only happens with Ie and Chrome not with Firefox

There are supposedly fixes but i've tried them and they're either too complex that they break your cart completely or they just don't work and people have posted them from repairs they've made to older versions (they wont work in 1.4).

does anyone have a definitive answer for v1.4 users? this is a major problem when using some newer themes.

i tried a lot of solutions, one that seems to work is to erase this line in ajax-cart.js:

.animate({ 'width': $element.attr('width')*0.66, 'height': $element.attr('height')*0.66, 'opacity': 0.2, 'top': cartBlockOffset.top + 30, 'left': cartBlockOffset.left + 15 }, 1000)

if that doesn't work instantly, deactivate "Smart Cache" in BO preferences.
