is this on a local server or hosted service? Also have you got the option swiched on?

this happens on a hosted service. the email works fine as they send me a test email during the installation, but after the website installed, all email doesnt work ( order_confirm, find lost password, new customer register, even enquiry form doesnt work)

Does the e-mail-adres you use belong to your domain?

Ergo: your domain is called 123.com and the e-mail is: [email protected].

no, I am using hotmail, i can set a new email after I setup de website, but customer doesnt receive order-confirmation mail after they place an order.

Are you sure you server/hoster is not on any spam-list?
What if you use a non-hotmail?

I am very sure, i tryed on hotmail and gmail, and i received a testing email when install the prestashop, so I think the host is not on spam-list.

Please somebody. I am having the exact same problem. When I installed prestashop, I was able to send the test email without any problems. But when someone places an order, registers, or tries to retrieve password, it does not work. My hosting is with Godaddy.com

I am using PHP mail function and each time an email needs to go out, it returns to the Gmail.com address I have set for the shop to work with with this message:

I don't understand. Why is it giving me SMTP errors when I have my shop set to use PHP mail function?
Can anyone please help. I am pulling orders, but having to manually relay all the auto-emails to the customer is a pain and steals too much of my time.

I think i know solution.

Problem is i think with SUBJECT of email. Subject is now like this: [PS_SHOP_NAME]Order status and most of programs find it like SPAM and can be rejected by server or moved to spam folder.

This is problem i think. We know solution, but don't know where to edit this.

THIS is my topic: Click here

Can anyone confirm that the above works!

There seems to be something wrong as it does not seem to be an isolated occurrence.

UPDATE

The post did not work for me, what is strange is that I can receive e-mails through the contact form, but when generated automatically (order confirmation, changing of password) nothing appears tried using googlemail (also via smtp), live (hotmail) etc.

I will ask my host uk2.net to see if they have changed anything as this used to work fine, but now nothing.

Is it possible for someone to write a module that would correct the above issues?

Would be willing to pay providing its a reasonable amount.

In addition I think this only affects certain websites so I would be interested in knowing from people who have no problems what hosting service they use and how long they have been using it for.

okay im on fresh install.. im at the smtp config test... used smtpout.secureserver.net port:80 [email protected] and password. and when sending it just keeps thinking.... trying just username for stmp:username also just keeps thinking...tried relay-hosting.secureserver.net no username or pass port:25 and confirmed email sent and i got email at yahoo address... proceeding with instalation..... installed footer links...going to contact page to try again.... got error 1. an error occurred while sending message.. chaning pref>email from port 25 to 80...still error.. changing pref>email to smtpout.secureserver.net port:80 [email protected] and password.. filled out contact page and insted of getting error or confirmation it goes to my home page..wth?! and no email anywhere sent.. why would it not go to the contact-form.php?

and are the issues you are having now that you said the same as mine ? or something else?
