Mister Denial
Hello,I recently removed some categories from my catalog, but FO still shows them, even with refresh and browser cache clearing. I have to uncheck the cache option from BO preformance tab, and then refresh the browser to have the changes displayed in FO. But as soon as I enable cache again, the changes are gone. This is probably some really silly and easy thing to solve, but I have no clue.I am using PS 1.4.2.5 on a Bluehost account (memcache installed and enabled).Thank you very much for any help!Best regards,Dan
tomerg3
Did you delete them from the Catalog, or using a module / manually from the DB?
Mister Denial
Hi Tomerg,I deleted them from the catalog using the BO - no manual deleting. It's really as soon as I use the cache option, it's back to the old categories block, even on computers I never accessed this website with before. So it definitely is some server-side thing, not client / browser cache issue.
Mister Denial
I tried reseting the categories block, it did immediately move the block to it's default position in the FO, but it still did not show the updated categories. The changes I made were to "promote" some sublevel 2 categories to sublevel 1, and to remove some sublevel 1 categories. Mister Denial
Ok, updating to 1.4.3 apparently solved this issue, whatever it was. So I guess we can consider this issue to be solved. Strange though, no clue what it could have been.
tomerg3
Could have been a bug, I was going to look into it, but it looks like you sorted it out.

tomerg3
Did you try to turn off the cache in the backoffice (preferences->performance)?
Numpaque
Thanks Tomer , it works I turn off the cache in the Backoffice and now all is Okay!
Mister Denial
Have you tried turning it back on too? In my case the modifications were gone again when cache was put back on. So unless you plan on running the website with cache turned off all the time, the issue might still be there. In my case upgrading to 1.4.3 did resolve this issue completely, now everything works fine, even with cache on "on".

Mister Denial
Upgrading to the latest PS versions is fairly simple, and there is a detailed instruction list here: http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Installing_and_Updating_PrestaShop_software/#Update_PrestaShopThe most important thing is you really really really need to make a full backup (including your DB) first, I would not take any risks. It's a pain to do sometimes, but rather play safe than sorry.A personal tip on upgrading: because FTP upload for so many files will take forever with the loads of file requests, what I do is to rename my old shop folder to foldername_OLD and uplaod the whole zip file, and extract it on the server, and then copy the files from my old shop folder to the new one, as in the WIKI instructions. I don't know if there are any drawbacks of doing it that way, but for me it works fine, and saves me lots of time!
