sunandmoon21
Hello,Recently I faced a strange problem in Prestashop connected with SEO friendly URL generation. When I finished uploading my products to the site and activated SEO friendly URLs, the URLS got rewritten properly. Now, I renamed some products and regenerated htaccess file (because I wanted to update the URLs), but the URLS remain the same, for some reason they don't get updated. I tried everything to update the URLs, but no luck so far...Anyone experienced such problem? What can be the solution? Thanks in advance.
mixcontrol
Renaming products do not change their URLs which are already created. If you want to change URL of the product you must click the SEO preferences above the short description in BO when you are editing a product. There is a friendly link that you can change. sunandmoon21
Isn't it possible to update all SEO friendly links automatically?
mixcontrol
Maybe with some additionall module but with regular presta it's impossible.
sunandmoon21
that means I have to edit urls manually one by one for all products the way you described above?

sunandmoon21
Most likely you need to make a menu item that links to the search page of Joomla. Otherwise there is no item to associate search results. If you do not have a hidden menu, simply create a new menu and do not put it in a module, then add a link to the search page by default. That should solve your problem. I have no idea what you are talking about...
theme_designer
You can install a third-party seo module.
johannesw
I am also looking for a module that can update all friendly url-names for all products based on the name, so I dont need to go in on all seperate products and generate the names, will take hours... goanta
I have a related problem as well: after i change the friendly url name for a product, webmaster tools says it finds duplicate title tags from the old and the new name, although when clicked i get redirected to the correct, new version of the product page. what may be the problem for the duplicate content? Mister Denial
@ sunandmoon: if Google has already indexed the products you are now giving a new url, you might want to consider creating some 301 redirects too, otherwise you might get several file not found errors. I know PS automatically redirects from the old URL to the new URL, but Google does not realize it is the same content. @ goanta: as explained in the last sentence above, Google does not realize that old_product_url and new_product_url is actually the same content. For Google, that's two different pages with duplicate content. You would need to set up a 301 redirect to tell google the old url is gone, and is now a new url.
