Installing 1.4 using xammp

Hi there,

For the last two days I have been trying to install Prestashop. Originally I was looking for a host to use, however I couldn't find out which was the best to use with the latest edition 1.4, due to many conflicting opinions. Also I'm not very technical at all so I need it to be dummy-proof.

As an alternative I found a way of using your local host, got about half way through the process and then the link I needed to go to:

http://127.0.0.1/prestashop/install no longer works. I assume this is due to the new version being incompatible with this database or something.

I'm really stuck but desperately want to set it up.

Any help would be great.
