Splitting combinations into new categories?

Hi everyone
Im using 1.4.2.5...
I'd like to tidy up categories to make them easier to navigate and split the existing categories into sub categories. All the products in one category have combinations (each product has the same combinations). I'd like to now separate the products into sub categories using combinations:

E.g I have "beds" as a category. Then the combinations are 3', 4', 5' and 6'. To make navigation easier, I want to have sub categories called 3' Beds, 4' Beds etc...

Is there an easy way (or module) available to do this??

Otherwise it's very timeconsuming. I have tried using CSV export and import but all the combinations except the default combination disappear and I need to restore the products from a back up...
