Upgrade from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2.5

Recommended Posts

I followed the whole instructions to upgrade from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2.5 from here:

http://www.prestashop.com/download/PrestaShop-Reference_Guide-Updating_PrestaShop-110530b-en.pdf

There are some little issues that didn´t avoid a successfull instalation. (You have to remember to change homepage_logo.jpg into prestashop/modules/editorial)

When I almost finished, I had to move everything from the new prestashop folder (that I called /prestashop_1.4.2.5/) to my current prestashop folder (that I called /tiendaweb/) containing the old 1.4.1 version. (Step 5)

I used Cyberduck with a Mac (a good FTP client)

Some of the folders didn´t let to copy so I opted to delete all from the /tiendaweb/ (1.4.1) but some of the items didn´t deleted even changing the permisions that took too long to change.

Then I thought: Why I don´t simply change the name to my new prestashop folder /prestashop_1.4.2.5/ to the name of the old one? So now the folder /prestashop_1.4.2.5/ is called /tiendaweb/

BUT!

Everything that was not a folder has dissapeared!! So I only get folders, but not the rest of the items in the main folder!!

And my webshop has dissapeared!

Yes! I made a backup before. And I´m uploading the old version to the old folder. And I think I will have to upload the new version that was in my computer to it´s new folder and update again. But I hope nothing is lost in the middle.

And of course, rename a folder doesn´t seem to be well done, at least in my case.

Old folder uploaded and shop OK. It took it´s time.
I hope to upload the new one and upgrade successfully, without mistakes.

To everyboby: it is very simple until it fails.

MAKE BACKUPS!!

Cool,

We made a module to simplify the migration to a newer version.

It's not perfect because it not make compatible all template if is not (like Prestashop 1.3 template don't become compatible for 1.4)

But this module make a backup of your files and database before upgrade with the new version.
