Product Thumbnail Scroller

On the product page I have a sample product that has the image scroller underneath the cover page image and it functions normally. You can tie color attributes to images so when choosing a dropdown color it switches and changes the scroller as well. I created a new product, uploaded images, added color attributes and tied them to images, but nothing works. On the product page the scroller shows two rows of images, and clicking the dropdown does nothing but show "display all images" leaving the two rows of images. Clicking that display all pictures link puts the scroller back to normal (how it should have appeared in the first place), but the dropdowns still don't work. When choosing dropdowns it only reveals the "display all picutres" link and does nothing else. Has this happened to anyone? Seems strange, could really use some help.
