404 error when a click a category

Recommended Posts

I made another mistake by adding a directory in Preferences and now I'm totally locked out of my site, so I deleted everything and I'm reinstalling now. However, this is my second install and I was getting that problem before. You won't be able to access my url now, but this is what shows up;

http://buy-ebook.net/6-ipods

I thought a directory should be before the word 6-ipods but when I added it, it completely locked me out of my Admin. I knew I should not have added my main directory because I already have my domain name pointing there.

Any help? Because I know when I reinstall it, it will definitely have the same problem. This is the second time I'm working on that same problem.

Help!

Yes I did enable it. I just looked at the .htaccess but I don't know what to look for. After I enabled the friendly URL I did this;

If you turn on this feature, you must rename the .htaccess.txt file to .htaccess

Do you think that is the problem I changed the name?

Thanks so much! Problem solved. You won't believe it!!!!!! There is a bug in the install. I knew something didn't look right. Here it is;

After I did an upload the .htaccess.txt is called htaccess.txt without the period. I just added a period to the front and then deleted .txt because I do want to use the friendly url feature and it worked! Is this not weird??? I wonder if I'm even looking at the right file, it's in the main directory right? You shouldn't have to go further.

Thanks

thank you, I have the same problem, while changing the Friendly URL: marked and I agree, after I save and I access my web, some of the items product error occurred, and I return to the original condition, and the web on my back.

the question becomes, what its functions Friendly URL: it? and how to use
