Help needed java

Trying to upgrade to PrestaShop v1.4.2.5 and cant get pass the first install page.
Made backup of old site.
Upgrade from (installed version detected : 1.3.0.7)
All iam getting is the application needs you too activate javascript to correctly work.
I have installed java and enabled it, but still cant move from first page.

1 Welcome! I only get to here?
2 System Compatibility
3 System Configuration
4 Shop Configuration
5 Installation is complete!

And yes i have agreed to the above terms and condition

Hey, I am also stuck there.... it says
"This application needs javascript, please activate" whilest trying to upgrade.... and can't move further from 1st step

funny thing is when tried fresh install it did gave me such error for a fraction of second but then it worked fine. Also, no compatibility for 1.3 based theme req

there should be legacy support on the 1.4 for older version themes to work. I appreciate newer features but there should be support for older ones too...
