I had the same problems too. I will list what I did wrong so that you know what to do:

1) All modules have to be converted to the .tar format. To do this, you can use a free program called,"7 zip". Say the module is on your Desktop, you right click on your folder, click 7 zip, send file to archive, do a compression of the file, it will ask you what format you want ie .zip, .rar BUT YOU CHOSE .tar and now you have a .tar file which you upload using an FTP program to your modules directory.

2) Say you have that module on your Desktop. You have to strip it of all the extra folders it has. For ie, it's on your desktop, the module is say called radio, you double click on the radio folder, then you see another folder in there called radio, so you double click and you might even see another folder called radio before you actually get to the goods. Basically just keep the last folder called radio and get rid of the outside ones. The module won't be found until to get rid of all the extra outside folders, except the one just before the "goods".

3) Double check the permission on an already established module to make sure you have the right permission on the new one.

Hope this helps.
