[Solved] Sub-Categories not showing in front office

I spent 2 days looking for possible things I missed and I also can't find an aswer on the forum.

I created a new category and subcategories with products, just like I've been doing for months.

The new category I created yesterdays shows up and so the 2 subcategories. These two also have another category (3rd level). The third level donesn't show up and the tick box to expand the subcategory is not there.

All sub categories are visible on the right side ( product info ) but not in the navigation on the left, under "Categories".

Any idea?!

UPDATE:

I noticed that I can add more categories (2nd and 3rd lever) to an existing category but not to a brand new one.

Still scratching my head........

I think you problem could be the configuration issue.
by default, the category Maximum depth is set at level 3.
You can change that by change configuration of categories block module.

Actually it doesn't work on level 2 either. If I move a sub category to an existing/older main category i can see level 2 and 3. It just doesn't work with newly added main categories.

I'm not sure where this configuration file is. Can you explain?

Got it. You meant "module" in the back office. I was looking into the configuration files under module

The changing the depth level from 3 to 4 worked. I guess the old categories didn't need the "4" maybe because they were imported from an old ecommerce.

I think the category depth is counting from Home level.
so you need to add more level than you think it is.
