kiri
HI everyone, just wanted to share some of my experience with paypal.. I am in a very specific situation that I have to use paypal as my merchant account and therefore take CC payment on my site.I got a module developped back in late 2008 by a IT group, (which they now sell somewhere around here).have been using it for a couple years now.I recently upgraded presta and did some QA this weekend, I discovered major security issues with the way paypal handled the payment.I called them several times today as well as emailed and their basic position which I wanted to share with everyone was that they do some "checks" but payments will usually go through either way.And their "checks" are very limited, and you also dont get to know about the data that comes back as bad, they know it but that is all.. (I dont want to detail too much online and help out the fraudsters)I was completely shocked that they thought it was all good, that they proceeded to upsell me their "advanced fraud management" tool (advanced??) and that it did not seem to be much of an issue to them.As a business owner, i processed hundreds of transaction with them and here is what I was led to believe::(quote from their site):If there's one thing people know about PayPal, it's how seriously we take security. Behind the scenes, we work to keep you and your customers safer from fraudulent transactions.Automatic Fraud ScreeningGuard your business with our relentless fraud screens, address and card verification checks, and 128-bit encryption.Having had lengthy discussion with the CS, this is pretty much all BS.and they completely own up to it and dont see why exactly a business owner would find that an issue that they don't really check anything..Just thougth I would share since I had absolutely no idea. I knew they were kinda evil just not THAT bad.
