Include Ship Date in E-mail

Hi there,

When you change the order status to shipped, an e-mail is sent to the person who placed the order stating that it has been dispathced.

I want to include the date within the e-mail itself using {}, is this possible? I know you can use the date function in php but could anyone explain to me how I would include this function in the email? In a similar manner to how the email converts {First Name} {Last Name} To John Doe.
