Server Migration and Strange Database Issues PS 8

Hello, fellow geeks!

We're migrating from VPS to Shared hosting and facing issues with one particular site, which, oddly enough, is functioning just fine. We’ve tried downloading the database using two methods: PHPMyAdmin and the PS Back Office (PS BO). Here are the strange scenarios we’re encountering:

PHPMyAdmin: The database size shows as 10GB, which is absurd since our largest site isn’t even half that size.

PS BO: The database is only half the size compared to PHPMyAdmin.

The site works perfectly, so it's puzzling that when I download the database using either method, I end up with an useless db. What’s going on? 😅

 I started exporting just 20 tables at a time. Initially, I split the database into two parts, but the second half alone was 9GB, which clearly isn’t right. Now, I’m doing smaller exports. It’s possible that one table is carrying most of the weight, but it’s hard to pinpoint.

Yup, found it, layered_filter_block has 687594 entries --> Showing rows 0 - 24 (687594 total, Query took 0.0048 seconds.) That's not right 😂

So, I downloaded the db without that table and now is only 700 mb, of course phpMyadmin is not working now, but once it does, I'll see if it helped.

If you have SSH access I strongly recommend to use mysqldump / mysql on command line to export/import the database. Phpmyadmin is not reliable with bigger amount of data

in phpmyadmin, sort on row size.  I suspect you have table with 'many' rows.

it  is safe to truncate *.connections (3 of them) but it could also be module creating many rows, we have seen some shipping modules  that created million rows in a table for cache...junk!  so look for table with 'very' large number of rows.
