T-bird
I'm trying to upgrade from PS 1.7.4.3 to 8.2.0 but every time I get to the final stage of installation it throws a 500 internal server error message: The error log entries are as follows: 2024-11-20 18:02:27.277122 [NOTICE] [11898] [T0] [96.63.158.143:52935:HTTP2-119#APVH_thunderbirdmodels.com:443] [STDERR] PHP Notice: Trying to get property 'theme_name' of non-object in /home/thunder3/public_html/test_site/var/cache/prod/ContainerUGuOxCa/appAppKernelProdContainer.php on line 3376\n 2024-11-20 18:01:40.649150 [NOTICE] [11898] [T0] [96.63.158.143:52935:HTTP2-99#APVH_thunderbirdmodels.com:443] [STDERR] PHP Notice: Trying to get property 'theme_name' of non-object in /home/thunder3/public_html/test_site/var/cache/prod/ContainerHDHVzYL/appAppKernelProdContainer.php on line 2911\n 2024-11-20 17:58:40.253155 [NOTICE] [11898] [T0] [96.63.158.143:52935:HTTP2-41#APVH_thunderbirdmodels.com:443] [STDERR] PHP Notice: Trying to get property 'theme_name' of non-object in /home/thunder3/public_html/test_site/var/cache/prod/ContainerBFkNWEE/appAppKernelProdContainer.php on line 3376\n 2024-11-20 17:57:46.169190 [NOTICE] [11898] [T0] [96.63.158.143:52935:HTTP2-23#APVH_thunderbirdmodels.com:443] [STDERR] PHP Notice: Trying to get property 'theme_name' of non-object in /home/thunder3/public_html/test_site/var/cache/prod/ContainerGqxJggE/appAppKernelProdContainer.php on line 2911\n 2024-11-20 17:53:06.187748 [NOTICE] [11898] [T0] [96.63.158.143:52892:HTTP2-43#APVH_thunderbirdmodels.com:443] [STDERR] PHP Notice: Trying to get property 'theme_name' of non-object in /home/thunder3/public_html/test_site/var/cache/prod/ContainerFzGJDS7/appAppKernelProdContainer.php on line 3548\n Can anyone shed any light on this please? Nickz
the way to update is from PS 1.7.4.3 to 1.7.4.4, then 1.7..4.5 and so on till you get to 8.2.0 Why do you need to update?
T-bird
Thanks for the reply. I probably should have said migrate, not update. I have been using 1.7.4.3 for several years now and it has slowly developed one problem after another, the latest being server errors when I try to access the shopping cart and Shop Parameters pages. There are various other things that don't work, plus I'm now getting bombarded by bogus newsletter registrations (hundreds per day) so I was hoping the latest version would have more security than the one I'm using. Is it really necessary to update in so many steps? Is it not possible to go directly from 1.7.4.3 to 8.2.0? I really don't have the time or desire to make so many small updates to get to the latest version.

Those bogus registrations i.e. You need to move the newletter registration. The new server is more powerful? Some servers are really restrictive. T-bird
I got around this by deleting my site entirely, installed version 8.2 and then restored the information from the database and file back ups from version 1.7.4.3. A little clunky and there were a few bugs to iron out but it worked.
