On December 13, 2024, a new EU directive, the GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation), will come into effect.
It requires that in an online store, for every product that poses a risk to consumer health and safety during use, the following information must be provided:
- Manufacturer (full name or first and last name)
- Registered trade name of the manufacturer or registered trademark
- Manufacturer's address, including the country of establishment
- Single point of contact address (if different from the manufacturer’s address)
- Manufacturer’s email address
- Point of contact email address
- Information about the product importer (similar to the manufacturer's information)
- Information about individuals or entities responsible for placing the product on the EU market (if not the manufacturer or importer)
- Product image
- Product description – it should refer exclusively to the offered item.
- Product composition and/or dimensions (if applicable)
- Type of packaging (if applicable)
- Product labeling (certificates and approvals)
- Categories of consumers at risk when using the product, particularly children and the elderly
- Safety information or documents concerning the product (in a language understandable to the customer)
Many of these requirements can be met by carefully editing the product description, ensuring accurate images, and attaching relevant documents as PDF files.
What PrestaShop does not have by default is the ability to mass-add information about the manufacturer/importer/entity responsible for placing the product on the EU market.
To avoid having to add this information to each product individually, the following module comes to the rescue.
The module adds an additional field named "GPSR Information" on the backend manufacturer (brand) page, where you can input the required information common to all products from that manufacturer.
Subsequently, a GPSR tab (the name can be changed via the translation panel) is added to the product page, displaying this information.
Additionally, the module allows you to automatically add the manufacturer's name and logo before the product description, enabling you to focus on the contact information within the description itself.
It is also equiped with a category-based warning and markings system, allowing you to manage specific warnings and marking for products.
If you prefer to display this information somewhere other than the additional tab, the module can be hooked to any hook available on product page, as it functions as a widget.
I invite you to use the module to simplify the implementation of this regulation: GaPSeR module on CodeCanyon
