grindingtools.
I currently have a website that has recently been taken over by a new company. They have informed me that I'm running Prestashop version 1.6.19, which was released in May 2018. It also runs on PHP 7.0 which reached end-of-life in January 2019. Prestashop version 1.7 had been released in 2017 and was already fairly mature by this stage. Regular updates have been released every few months, and the latest version, 8.0, was released in March 2023. Version 8.1 came out in July 2023, and 8.2 in September this year. Our estimate for the upgrade is as follows: Upgrade Prestashop 1.6.19 to latest version Prestashop 8.2 · Migrate all critical data from Prestashop 1.6 to Prestashop 1.7 and then to Prestashop 8.2 They have blamed ongoing errors because it's so out of date. My question is, is it possible errors can occur with capcha and confirmation emails with Credit Card information. What would you expect to pay. JBW
Most hick-ups in upgrades are cuased by incompatible/outdated themes and modules. So before upgrading make sure you have the newest and 8.2 compatible versions of the theme and modules available. Then it's recommended to do upgrades in smaller steps and switch PHP versions slowly during this progress. And of course test the upgrade and the shop functionalites carefully on a test instance first. always do backups before starting and changes on the live shop.
