PrestaShop’s Newest Infamy Against Its Developers — I’ve Had Enough.

Recommended Posts

This is the new infamy from PrestaShop against its developers, yet another one in a long list of decisions that go against those of us who bring value to the platform. I’m fed up with this situation. This is my message to support because enough is enough:

Hello PrestaShop team,

I’m reaching out to express my concern about the recent decision to force Stripe as the only payment method for contributors. I understand that PrestaShop may have internal reasons for this change, but this decision directly impacts my ability to receive payments in a convenient and secure manner.

I have serious reservations about the amount of personal information Stripe requires, and I’m not comfortable sharing my ID or other sensitive data. Additionally, this decision limits my flexibility in managing my payments and increases my operational costs due to currency conversion fees and additional charges.

I would like to request that PrestaShop reconsider this policy and allow contributors to choose between Stripe, PayPal, or bank transfers as alternative payment methods.

If there is no room for flexibility, I will unfortunately have to migrate to Shopify or other platforms that respect my choice on how to receive my payments, as I do not consider it appropriate to work under these conditions.

Thank you for your understanding,

Hopefully Stripe is not a bad service but why only Stripe…

I understand you. I remember when eBay stopped PayPal and then force to use another plateform of payment. Thanks to them choice, I had to make double currency conversion to receive my money in my bank account. I couldn’t see benefit to continue to sell on eBay.

Don’t understand market plateform who force to use only ONE method.

I strongly object to being forced to use Stripe as the sole payment method on the platform. Such a restrictive approach not only undermines the flexibility that developers and businesses need, but also disregards the diverse payment preferences of customers in different markets. By imposing Stripe as the only option, PrestaShop is creating unnecessary friction and limiting the potential growth of businesses that rely on alternative or more region-specific payment gateways. This rigidity is detrimental to both partners and customers, and it ultimately goes against the spirit of an open and adaptable e-commerce platform.

But at least there is no fee (now), so it’s a positive point.

Are Stripe cash withdrawals free?

Yes, the fees associated with funds movements are borne by PrestaShop with no impact on your earnings.

Stripe is not bad, I recommend to give a chance to this plateform.
