How to make sub category images look better

The image i have attached shows how the category view currently looks. There is a lot of waisted space and a lot more could be done to make it look better and bigger.

Is there any module available to change the look of the category view, or is there anything anyone can suggest to make it look better.

This needs code changes -
Try searching as Someone gave me all the info but I no longer have the link - one can increase the image size and get the text to match the image width. I'm very much a novice and I managed it.

Though I must say I prefer things that do look crushed together.
