Hello.

I'm new to this platform, I just started a few days ago. About twenty years ago I used Joomla (Virtuemart) and then, more recently, Woocommerce (wordpress).

I'm still reading the Prestashop manual (haven't found anything specific to what I'm looking for), also tried watching videos and can't find the information needed. So I'm trying to get support here on the forum. 😅 sorry to disturb you guys..

I'm using Prestashop 8.1.7 (the server is well configured according to the CMS requirements).

My question: There's any link for images global management files? I mean a "Image File Manager" for products?

I'm trying to add product photos (images) and I don't know where we manage the images we've previously uploaded.
I try to upload and then deleted and we can never see what we uploaded to the server on each product. So there's any management control on images?
I see a "File Manager" only for the product description area.

I tried to search and click around but we only have the option to "add" from our computer and "delete" the image.🫠 seems very short of options and weird as product is the main reason for e-commerce.

If there's no "image files management", can some Dev add this feature on Prestashop roadmap, please?) 😬

Thank you very much,
Best regards

Exactly! Endriu107...

each product should have own images, I'm not saying the opposite 🤝 I just don't see the management function.

"How to manage the product images"? is the question. When I say "manage" is about the "full" management, i mean: to see existing images, to compare them, to add more, to edit name (or other details "alt"), to delete...

...

To don't be exhaustive, there's any solution or prevision for the roadmap? Or to request the Dev team?

Thank you,

kind regards

just to see a example of the wide complexity we can face... we have the exactly same product model, same color, same size, same thing, but only a small text line of a component is different.
How do we see the difference when adding a similar product photo? We cannot! 😅 cannot edit, no image names, no details... cannot see previous images on the server.

Humm... Ok. thanks for the explanation. Maybe it's not only "me" requesting because I saw similar topics / requests around other websites on Google (but seems some people using a kind of Windows Software from the 90's.... quite weird for 2024.
To be clear, I don't like to focus in "me" as "request" ...that will be very centric... and this kind of projects are about "the community" and, if I can contribute in some way, it will be ok, as previously with Joomla and WP.

Just let me know something more:

1. if Users upload the images several times (on the Catalog : Product), this will create duplicates and increase or waste server space / memory / or other resources ?
2. Deleting these images (from Catalog/Product) will also delete on the server side all the registrations, it's confirmed?

This question means that not having this image management on the back-end because it works like a "virtual cache" style?

3. Or the criteria was a safety issue on Prestashop (related with media/images)?

4. Do you know if Prestashop Dev. Team will add this feature on "Catalog : Product" or another options?  Any link to read the roadmap or submit an appeal / request / suggestion?

I think a simple "show or hide" "on/off" or module for people that need to see/manage images can work. 😅
I'm thinking, maybe some few Users that has thousands or millions of photos "to manage" don't need this type of feature (big stores and companies, but for sure is less users). If this option exists they can "hide" / select "off".
On the other hand for a wide range of users (small and medium business) I think is a normal feature that should be available, or no?

Thank you,
Kind regards

This kind of change about managing images is a lot of work, and will require huge changes in core, database etc. I don't think it will be changed, at least not soon.

You can prepare this changes and create pull request on github, that this will be available for everyone in future.

I also don't like the fact that images that are used in several products are created several times under different file names.

As far as management is concerned, you can view, edit, sort, rename etc. the images on your PC, and there are countless programmes for this.

Prestashop offers numerous functions free of charge, but not all of them, especially not all of the more advanced ones. There are usually paid but also free modules for this. I use the universally applicable Store Commander (not just for images), here are the current options for images:

Thanks Pallavigodse. In fact after using other CMS, comparing what we have here, at Prestashop "marketplace" seems to have a lack of offer. But it's ok, is what we have.

On other hand, there's no "real" competition, I mean almost all modules seems to have a similar price.
Even if you need a form, a banner, a slider, a scroll up, a div with "hello world" ... 😅

Let's check the data: 2.249 results on the marketplace.

. 41 modules are "Free Download" means 0,0182%
. 44 modules has "Free Plan Available" means 0,019%

From the Page 4 to Page 32 (low to high) the price is 79,99 Euros. Then you have a group for 89,99, for 99,99, another group for 114,99, 129,99, 158,99 Euros ...
Is like a real "price fixing" between devs..

In the begin of this topic I was just posting some links (as exemple to compare) that was removed/edited by a moderator red pencil (I refer other CMS just to show that it was a real free "normal" thing) to understand the system. Something that I'm still trying to understand and learn.
If we need to spend like 79,99 or 129,99 or 149,99 just to see the images inside the server. I prefer to look for the folder using the FTP (for free) 😅 the problem is the solution is not so fast.
Maybe this CMS it will become expensive if we need something later.

Thank you anyway.
