Link on Login page 'Forgot your password?' does not ultimately work. PS v8.1.6

The link address is https://my domain/password-recovery

A new page then appears called 'Forgot your password?'

Message says 'Please enter the email address you used to register. You will receive a temporary link to reset your password'.

Entering the email address and selecting the button 'SEND RESET LINK' I get a verification message 'If this email address has been registered in our store, you will receive a link to reset your password at my@domain.com.

None of my demo email addresses or customers addresses get an email detailing password.

Any ideas please
