Prestashop 8, default checkout module: pre-fill country by language, and country name translation

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am trying to improve the checkout experience to customers.
I would like that if the customer chooses a language to view the site, at chekout he could have both the names of the countries in the language (and instead it always shows them in English...) and both pre-filled the country of the chosen iso.

So a German customer could find "Deutschland" instead of having to search for "Germany" from the list.... atc etc

Is there a way?
Thanks

Much simpler: do not pre-fill the country in the shipping address. I'm trying it as a non-logged-in user.

I would understand if it didn't change it, but here it just doesn't fill it in!

1.  best practice is to have PS set visitor language from http language, i.e. if browse language is german, and you have german language enabled, they will automatically see german language.

2. when you install language pack is should add the country translation for that country, you can check this here   admin-->locations-->countries

remember, language is based off visitor http language....however if your shop does not have that language enabled the default language is served.  you can test by changing your default browser language in browser settings, test from incognito each time as PS will not change language in cookie if already set.
