Password reset link expired

Hi,

After migrating from 1.6 to 8.1 the customers created in 1.6 are not able to reset their password. Anytime they click the 'forgot password' link, they receive the message 'link is expired, ask for a new one'.

Customers created in 8.1 do not have this issue.

An issue similar to this topic: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/1080626-the-password-change-request-expired-you-should-ask-for-a-new-one/&ved=2ahUKEwiXqZvN-OKHAxUe3wIHHa0DCXYQFnoECBoQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0LtEDpQx_3L3SaaKtr5tHm

But we did not use a special module back then.

I read about solutions to change the value in the customers table - reset_password_validity, so I did, but the problem persists.

I compared an old customer to a new customer, the reset_password token for a new one is just 'empty', for an old customer it says 'NULL'. I changed the value, but no luck.

We have plenty of customers from before the switch to 8.1, so I am really hoping someone knows how to fix this.

If you need more info, please let me know, I am happy to provide it.

I would be very happy ;)

Thank you, Ellen

Hi, I have no idea... we let someone else do the upgrade. But, since it's not working, I guess, they did it in a different way...

It's been half a year since we ended the collaboration; but only since a couple of weeks I started to notice it.

Yes, I do. How could that help me?

Sure could, you could use the old store, specially if nothings has changed like URLS.
In case you store does not run, you could set up the store on a different domain and redirect the old to the new.

In the mentioned thread in the old store a module managed those passwords. In your case it could be that you use a newer version of the database.

Hard to say from the outside.

Thank you NIck, but that would be very unwanted. Sure there must be a solution for this, right? I mean, I am not the first with this problem...

The store is running for over half a year now, but recently 'old' customers are returning and having this issue.

I am really not planning to go back, with all the changes we have made and all the new products added...

use the chance to write to your old customers offering them a 3% return bonus. Before that you make the old customers new over the database. Pull a Database Dumb (Export) before. Its always good having more consistencies.

Ok, thanks for trying to find a solution, but is there no simple way to do this? Maybe change an entry in the database?

I already changed the field 'reset_password_validity', but it has no effect. (I read that somewhere to be the solution).

I don't understand these issues...  I can't be the only one with this problem, but no simple solution?

Anyone?

Thanks, Ellen
