Module updates for modules already updated

Recommended Posts

I got a list of about 7 external modules that showed that there were updates available. I was a little surprised why there were so many since I usually apply the updates very shortly after receiving them but I went ahead applying the updates.

When I tried to apply the updates, I received an error message that the update failed. I tried several times with no success.

I then decided to look at the files via ftp and I see that the version on the files IS the new version. The modules page still shows that the updates are needed however.

Anyone else encounter this and/or knows how to 'reset' the modules listing to what is actually installed?

Thanks,

Hi.

After a successful module update, if the module is configured correctly, the new version is written to the database.
Specifically, these are the ps_module and ps_module_history tables.
Furthermore, the new version of the module should be written in the module folder in the config.xml file and also according to your languages in the config_your_lang.xml file in the XML tag "<version><![CDATA[new version]></version>".

Hi,

I looked in the ps_module table and see the modules in question listed. The version number is the pre-upgrade value that shows on the module page. However, when I look at the config.xml file in the module's folder, it is showing the new version. The timestamps on the files are also new. The ps_module_history table seems to show the previous update day but for some reason, not all of the modules are listed in the history table.

Very confused about what is going on. I don't know what versions we are running or how to get things back in sync.

The error message when trying to update is not very helpful either.
