Modifying Background and Blocks in Default Theme

Hey Folks

Need help with some design issues and modifying in Prestashop 1.4

1. The blocks in the default theme are rounded at the edges, But i want to make it straight, How can this be done, Also would like to change the Dark Grey of the Block Headers background to Black and Font to White.

2. Tried changing the background from Black to White, I managed to do that by modifying gloabl.css file, BUT it washed out the contents and other things which are in white.

Any suggestion to solve the above 2 issues would be great, Thanks.

The block images are located in the default theme at >themes > prestashop > img. So you can change these to not rounded pics.
But you can also create css blocks with default background colors. Just change the global.css files.

Well, if you change the body background then obviously you need to change all the other white colors to black. That is a lot of work, but it can be done.
Why dont you download a free theme or buy a theme that is already in black?

Thanks for your reply, I made the changes to the image files, But it did not reflect in the site. Force Compile is "ON" even tried clearing Smarty Compile. Not sure what im doing wrong.

Since i am just starting up, I do not plan to invest on a theme yet, But if business does well, surely will. But for the time being, looking at soemthing which i can do myself or a free theme. Are there any Free Black Theme's for 1.4?

There is 1 free alternative theme in the prestashop Addons section.

I hope you have copied the default theme to another new folder?
If so then change the default in the backend > preferences > appearance and enable the new theme.
Then try to change pics (with caching off and force compile on).
This should work.
Try to insert a custom background and see if that works
