SusanGeneva
Hi, I installed a new instance of PrestaShop on June 10, 2024 (PHP 8.1) and was successful in signing in several times since that date to make changes to my website smallbizbeacon.com. However, when I tried today to sign in to the admin URL I have received a "Fatal Error Exception" message. I get the same error message regardless of browser used. I have attached a screen shot of the message. Can anyone help me sort this out and regain access to my admin backend. Thank you, Susan Edited June 20 by SusanGeneva (see edit history)
SeifF
Hello, Thank you for reaching out regarding the "Fatal Error Exception" preventing access to your PrestaShop admin backend. I understand this issue is critical for managing your site effectively. Here’s a structured approach to resolve it: Error Details and Logs: The "Fatal Error Exception" suggests a critical issue with PHP execution. Please access your server's error logs for detailed information. Look for PHP error logs that correspond to the time of the error. This will provide insights into what specifically caused the issue. Clear Cache and Cookies: Start by clearing your browser cache and cookies, or try accessing the admin URL in a private/incognito window to rule out any caching issues that might be affecting login attempts. Verify Server Requirements: Ensure your server meets PrestaShop's requirements for PHP version compatibility (especially with PHP 8.1) and other necessary configurations. Confirm all requirements are properly configured. Check File Permissions: Verify that file and directory permissions are correctly set on your PrestaShop installation. Files should typically have permissions set to 644 and directories to 755. Incorrect permissions can sometimes lead to log in failures. Disable Recently Added Modules/Themes: If you’ve recently installed or updated any modules or themes, they could be causing conflicts. Temporarily disable them and check if this resolves the issue with accessing the admin panel. Database Integrity: Ensure your database is intact without any issues that might prevent login. Check for any recent changes or updates that could have affected database functionality. Have a nice day.
SusanGeneva
Hello, Thank you for your comprehensive reply. I appreciate your attention to detail and the time that it took for you to respond. I have worked my way through each step that you have suggested and found that when I switched my PHP back to ea-PHP7.2 I can now once again gain access the back office of my PrestaShop site. Hopefully, when I add in a new theme it will still keep working. Thank you for your assistance. Susan
