PanzerkampfPL
Hi, I've started using Microsoft Clarity to record what customers are doing to improve the efficiency of order finalisation. I added the Clarity tag automatically using Google Tag manager. Everything works perfectly, it creates heatmaps and records sessions until the customer clicks "Proceed to order completion" (Przejdz do realizacji zamowienia) after adding products to cart. The key page where the customer selects delivery, payment method etc. does not record. Can you advise me where I am making a mistake? Or does the recording of the basket finalisation require additional settings? The graphic shows where the recording of each session ends 9468a1be-196e-45e7-9c05-33aa8eb39574.jfif Edited June 14 by PanzerkampfPL add screenshot (see edit history)
Webski Gość
Hey 👋🏻 I find Your shop (airgun) and check what's going on. In my opinion, there is a problem in the configuration because it loses the GTM (tag with ID GTM-5xxxxxF) at the checkout page (in head section). PanzerkampfPL
When your nickname is pure truth - "Webski Gość" in Polish "łebski gość" mean wise guy ! Do you perhaps know how to fix it? Is it a matter of settings in the tag menager itself or should I add the tag "GTM-5xxxxxF" in some specific tpl files? Is there any method to find the places (specific sub-pages) where the tag gets lost?
Webski Gość
The question arises as to how "GTM" was implemented: Was the code added directly to the .tpl file and which one? Was it implemented via a module? This would facilitate determining whether the code was inserted in an incorrect location or file, or if there is an issue with the module that ceases to function during the summary phase. PanzerkampfPL
Implementation was done by adding code to the tpl (a long time ago ) In the shopping cart the page heder and the footer look different and exactly there the tracking does not work. I assume that the code must be embedded in these places. Maybe just add the codes to the cart tpl files? The question is to which ones?
Webski Gość
In my opinion, from a long-term perspective, a more prudent approach would be to locate the file where the code is currently implemented and attempt to rectify it properly. Check files like: /themes/classic/templates/_partials/head.tpl /themes/classic/templates/_partials/header.tpl /themes/classic/templates/checkout/_partials/header.tpl /themes/classic/templates/layouts/layout-both-columns.tpl Below example how You can do it (implement GTM) in head.tpl underline with code: {block name='head_ie_compatibility'} <meta http-equiv="x-ua-compatible" content="ie=edge"> {/block} add: (delete * from {*literal*}// here code {*/literal*}) {*literal*} <!-- Google Tag Manager --> <!-- HERE CODE FROM GTM <head> --> <!-- End Google Tag Manager --> {*/literal*} Next add code in templates/layouts/layout-both-columns.tpl underline with body tag: (delete * from {*literal*}// here code {*/literal*}) {*literal*} <!-- Google Tag Manager (noscript) --> <!-- HERE CODE FROM GTM <body> --> <!-- End Google Tag Manager (noscript) --> {*/literal*} I hope my advice has been helpful to you. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask. Good luck!
PanzerkampfPL
I have done as per your instructions and feel that GTM is working. I infer this from the fact that I can see the file gtm.js?XXXXXXX on all the shopping cart subpages. BUT Clarity is still not recording the shopping cart - I did a test purchase and unfortunately it was not recorded.
