scamp
I hope this is in the right place - I apologise if it isn't!I am looking at updating my website from Zencart to PrestaShop but before I go any further with installing Prestashop and playing around with it, I need to know if and how I can import my current customer database over to prestashop so there is no effect on my customers. Meaning all their information, passwords and order history remains intact.I will also need to bring over my orders so they are all there available in Prestashop and be able to carry on with the same order number system as in Zencart. Can someone tell me if this is all possible? I have no issues manually bringing over my product info and images - that isn't a problem but I really can't afford to loss any customer or order information!!I have searched the forums and haven't been able to produce any threads that help me out. TropischBruin
I think you would have to get the PS team to write a converter fit for you needs.

MonDeveloper
Hi Scamp, i'm doing what you need, I'm migrating from Zencart as well. You must try to use the PS CSV importer available into Admin panel as much as you can, but you wll find out that some manually adjusts are needed!Based on the Zencart versione you are using you can catch several issue importing data into PS, first of all the enconding, my Zencart uses a version of MySql that doesn't support UTF8 but the html frontend allow to input UTF8 characters so, within the DB, you can find the UTF8 chars in this form ł .You have to manually (or via script) update these chars !I have successfully imported: Products, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Categories, Customers and Addresses.About password, YES, I achieve this goal, the imported customers can logon into PS with the same password and it's work without hacking systems !!!If you are intrested write me, the procedure is a little bit complex so i will write it only if you need it really...Hope to be useful !!! TropischBruin
Not possible as passwords are encrypted. The should apply for an new password first time they visit your store.
pokemon3d
Hello,If I copy the ZENCART customers database into PS database, and leave the password field as NULL, will the registered customers automatically be asked to submit a new password, or will they have to go to an entire registration ?Thanks in advance,Regards
