CSV mass uploading

Hello everyone,
I have to upload,as many others of you,hundreds of products.I tried with the csv tutorial,but I found the the "available field",do not correspond to the prestashop one,for instance,wholesale price is loaded in decription.I use the italian language as default,so I don't know if this influence this thing.I just wondering if anyone as experienced the managing trough php my admin:I would like to download the single tables of the db structure as csv,open them in openoffice,fill with all the data(and this i suppose must match)and then reupload the csv.Of course the tables are several,as far as the product is concerned and of course attention must be paid to match the same product ID in different tables....do you think it will work?
Any other suggestion anyway will be more than welcome.
