I had a similar situation when configuring IMAP for my email client. It turned out that even though everything looked right on the server end, there was a minor configuration issue on the client side.

Double-checking the incoming and outgoing server settings along with authentication methods might help pinpoint the issue. Also, ensuring your email client is updated could make a difference.

Check your IMAP settings: incoming server should be outlook.office365.com, port 993 with SSL/TLS encryption; outgoing server should be smtp.office365.com, port 587 with STARTTLS encryption.
