[Solved] (solved see V 1.4.2) PS 1.4 Stock Control BUG/Error - Qty not showing in Front office

Recommended Posts

Edit 11/05/2011 - After logging this with Bug Tracker - the PS team worked and the fix is now available in the new download PS Version 1.4.2 (see the Prestashop site for the 1.4.2 download)
Thanks go to the PS Programmers Team - Ian

Hi - having installed 1.4 PS we have asked it to stock control and show qty on site.

Stock control seems to work - but the qty is not showing.

Is there something wrong we have done or not done as the case may be.

Regards

Ian

Edit

Back office / Preferences / Products

Display available quantities on product page: Yes or no

We set it to yes - but it does not seem to work.

Edit - We amended the title with stock control BUG/Error - as this now also seems to be related to using stock control. Without stock control this error will not be evident. But switching on stock control and "checking box" to show quantities in front office - error persists. It also stops the description of the article being shown - there is a temp work round - please read further.

Hi Slako,

Yes that is the problem - At the moment we are rather pleased we did not upgrade straight away - this new ps 1.4 shop is for trade use and so it has given us chance to "play" with it.

So bad are the faults - other faults we have now found - we have stopped all work on it - and I phoned the Prestshop team in France to ask about this release - they are currently (I presume this anyway) looking at the site we created FO and BO - we gave access codes for them.

I hope to have some sort of reply - when I dont know. (not sure if 1.4 is really fully tested or not)

Will keep you informed here.

regards

Ian

Just an up date on some further information about this problem!!

If we show one item as in stock - the wording "1 item" in stock is shown.
If we increase this to 2 items or more- then there is nothing shown as in stock - even though we could have 60 pieces as recorded as being in stock.

Real bug and half this one.

Regards

Ian

Hello Lem,

Thank you for your information - we re-set the amount from 1 to 100.

This gave the desired result and as you say a good work round. However this little work around also allowed the product details to be viewed as well.

So again - big thanks for your advice.

Hey prestashop team - take note - can you please fix this bug.

Cheers

Ian

Edited - We are amazed that the 1.4.0 and now as you say the 1.4.1 has the same bugs (how could the PS team release such updates with the basics fouled up we ask ourselves)- although the fix allows the in stock amounts to be shown it also shows the warning "last items in stock" etc even though it should not do so.

So we are thinking of deleting the 1.4.0 and re-installing the proven 1.2.4 version which we know works. As a point of interest no reply - not even a read receipt, for the 2 emails I sent them late last week. Good job we still keep the zipped down load of 1.2.4 - which, as I believe, is not on any download page for any one to download from the PS site.

Edit 8/05/11 - Prestashop Admin have logged into our trade site - and today we approved their log in details - so hopefull when they are back on Monday more action may be happen.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be a new feature, or is a genuine bug.

If the former then some mention in the documentation for upgraders may have been prudent. In the current state, it works quite well for us. We have two types of products; Hand-dyed yarn (up to 5 qty usually) and downloadable patterns.

We really do need the qty for the yarns displayed as customers will want to know if sufficient is available for a particular project. However the patterns I'd rather not have "97 available" displayed, so I've set the threshold to 10 and everything works well.

I will admit though that the major do updates seem to bring a few challenges each time and some tweaking is always required.

Hello Lem,

Your input is very important and I am pleased to hear that most of 1.4.1 works for you (we are using 2 on 1.2.4 and one, which is causing the problems on 1.4.0 final) so we will not delete 1.4.0 just yet!!

This feature (Stock Control) we are currently using on 1.2.4 PS sites. We have used it for almost the whole time we have had 1.2.4 sites working about 1 1/2 years I think. So really this not a new feature but one that has been used on the previous PS versions.

So this is really important for the PS team to resolve as quick as possible - because we can not up grade the 1.2.4 sites until this feature is working correctly.

I find very hard to understand that all exsisting features are not tested prior to releasing upgrades. I undersand when new features are created as they are NEW but older ones which would, in many cases, be currently being used will for sure throw up many un-happy customers. So how many are using PS 1.4.0 / 1 and or have upgraded as not many have seemed to have reported this issue, unless they are not using stock control.

do you know of any other faults ?

Cheers

Ian

Pagination is broken in pages such as new-products.php and best-sales.php

This was definitely working in 1.3.x

It is a little frustrating I must admit. Prestashop is the easiest to develop for (esp compared to Magento) but it's open source nature isn't getting bugs fixed quickly as it should. I guess it needs more contributors on the coding side of things - a lot of us can code, but prefer to wait for an update than try to fix the problem (myself included).

The bug tracker is the only way of getting stuff fixed. The devs don't look at the forum.

Hello Lem,

Do you know if this has been reported in BUG Tracker?

Also remember that I have personally spoken to a member of PS in France and issued password to the site - todate no reply as yet.

Hi,
The bug with showing the product quantity has been fixed in version 1.4.1. Lem, if you still have this issue it probably means that you are still using the default theme from PrestaShop 1.4.0.17 or a modification based on this theme.
For the pagination bug, if the bug is still present in the latest PrestaShop version please create a ticket in the bugtracker. It is by far the fastest way to get a bug fixed!

We are unsure to if this is fixed - we will test the 1.4.1 in next few day and post our result - please read previous post on this thread as 1.4.1 also reported as a fault/bug

(Edit - we are advised that 1.4.2 has resolved this issue) (1.4.2 un-released as at 15/04/2011)
