[PS 8.1] Friendly URL does not change automatically after update

Hi,

I have just installed a fresh PS 8.1 and I encountered a problems with friendly URL. I have enebled "Force update of friendly URL" in the Shop Parameters -> Product Settings. Then I have enabled Friendly URLs in Traffic & SEO and cleared cache. In that state friendly URL are generated on my website with no problem. But once I change the title of product the friendly URL is not changing automatically like it does in my other shops that are on PS 8.04 and PS 1.7.8.9. I have created a product with "Test" in the product name. Friendly URL has been set correctly. But once I changed the name to "test test abs" firendly url was still test and I have to manually hit the "Reset URL" button. Check the attached photo. Does anyone know how to enable automated change of Friendly URL?

I would suspect that some php error crashes the script before it reaches the friendly url regeneration stage. So enable debug mode and look everywhere for errors.

@musicmaster thank you for your reply. Debug mode shows no errors. Strange thing I have noticed. Once I turned on Debug mode friendly urls or articles now works. When I change the title friendly URL is changing as well. But I have noticed that the friendly URL regeneration still does not work for categories and pages. It's strange that this functionality does not work for freshly installed PS. PS 8.0.4 and older did not have that issue. At least I have not noticed in any of my shops.

Hi,

I think the behavior you described is the default behavior when changing a product's name. When you update the product title, the friendly URL does not automatically change to reflect the new product title.

You can manually reset the URL by clicking the "Reset URL" button in the product edit page. This will regenerate the friendly URL based on the current product name.

Clear the cache.

Thank you for lettting me know. At least I know that there is not problem with my installment.

I have the same problem in version 8.0.4 After updating the products, the friendly url does not work.  I can see that when I change the product route to anything then the product page works fine.  The problem comes back when I change the route to the same or I update products.

Hi! Random update, url rewriting only works when product is "offline", no idea why, so either have to click SEO tab to manually change, or have to turn product offline, work on it, then turn it online.
